Meter Data Converter and Scheduler

The Data Converter and Scheduler (DCS) enables users to automate and schedule the querying, formatting, and importing of meter reading data from a metering system into their EnergyCAP database. Users can create custom meter queries and schedule the queries to run via a scheduled task or batch file.

The Meter Data Converter and Scheduler (MDCS) is a flexible software application designed to streamline the process of importing interval data into EnergyCAP. Using an ODBC or SQL Server database connection, MDCS connects to a metering system’s database (for example, Schneider Electric’s ION system), and queries a range of meter reading data. MDCS then produces a CSV file to be used by EnergyCAP’s imptsk.exe processor.

Using MDCS’s Profile Manager, users set up details of the reformatting processes, specifying the SQL query used to retrieve the data from the source database, the columns to output, and operations to perform upon them.

 

Once these profiles are created, MDCS’s processor can be scheduled to run on a recurring basis through a scheduled task or a batch file, which can initiate imptsk.exe. As such, interval data can flow from the source database into EnergyCAP with no user interaction. The scheduled import can run on any time interval (15, 30, 60 minutes, monthly, etc.).
