Unit System: Basic

Presented by Ryan Ohlson [30 minutes]

The Unit System Basic Session provides definitions of the terminology adopted for using and customizing the unit system. It also provides examples for performing basic tasks such as adding a new commodity, setting up equivalencies, creating observation types, adding unit conversions, and setting a global equivalency. The video closes with an example of how to set up a bill template using line items for a newly-created commodity.

    1. Create Commodities used by EnergyCAP
    2. Create new Observation Types for more powerful reporting capabilities
    3. Create Units
    4. Define common unit for each commodity for comparing meters tracked by different units of measure (ex. Nat Gas tracked in CCF vs THERM)
    5. Equate each commodity to a global energy unit of measure to roll up all commodity usage and/or get energy per sq ft for buildings

  4. Hands On: Create a new Unit of Measure
  5. Hands On: Create a new Equivalency
  6. Hands On: Create a new Observation Type and make checkmark on commodities that it will be used for
