Unit System: Basic
Presented by Ryan Ohlson [30 minutes]
The Unit System Basic Session provides definitions of the terminology adopted for using and customizing the unit system. It also provides examples for performing basic tasks such as adding a new commodity, setting up equivalencies, creating observation types, adding unit conversions, and setting a global equivalency. The video closes with an example of how to set up a bill template using line items for a newly-created commodity.

Purposes of the Unit System (Power Point)
-
Create Commodities used by EnergyCAP
-
Create new Observation Types for more powerful reporting capabilities
-
Create Units
-
Define common unit for each commodity for comparing meters tracked by different units of measure (ex. Nat Gas tracked in CCF vs THERM)
-
Equate each commodity to a global energy unit of measure to roll up all commodity usage and/or get energy per sq ft for buildings
