EnergyCAP Express 2.11.2 Released

A new release of EnergyCAP Express has been installed for all users. The following bug fixes and enhancements are included as part of this release.

Bugs

[ECO-1239] - When changing or adding rates or templates for meters with multiple accounts, the user is now prompted for the account to be modified.
[ECO-1270] - Non-energy commodities no longer appear in the Normalized EUI chart and legend.
[ECO-1249] - User roles are now saved correctly for invited EnergyCAP Express users.
[ECO-1282] - An error in the Setup Manager rate import process has been corrected.
[ECO-1285] - Report filters that have a single quote now save correctly.
[ECO-1283] - Required fields in ENERGY STAR properties are now honored even if minimum values are zero.
[ECO-1290] - The Meter Properties page now shows all meter GL Codes when a meter is assigned to multiple accounts.
[ECO-1303] - Functionality for creating a new Project Type for a building has been restored.
[ECO-1313] - The Setup Importer now assigns Device Properties, CAP, and GHG Factors for a new meter as expected.

Improvements

[ECO-1292] - Audits no longer produce false positive results if the needed historical data is not available to perform the audit.
[ECO-1305] - The legend of the Normalized Energy Use Index chart has been repositioned so that it is not truncated.

EnergyCAP Express 2.11.1 Released

EnergyCAP Express 2.11.1 has been installed for all users. It includes the following bug fixes and improvements.

New Features

The Setup Import tools provided in 2.11.0 now provide the ability to update most major EnergyCAP items using similar Excel import files. The new update functionality has been designed to allow users to download pre-filled templates with current item data and provides a column for each property of that item to specify the new value.

Bug Fixes

[ECO-1198] - Billing Period Date Range in Groups & Benchmarks could be set outside of an acceptable range
[ECO-1235] - Some older, converted databases had bad Statement and Due dates that would cause User Interface issues. These no longer result in errors.
[ECO-1247] - Bill Entry flags could not be set manually in the bill entry dialog
[ECO-1250] - Some users could not be set to inactive

Improvements

[ECO-1262] - BETWEEN is now a selectable operator for "Total Cost" when setting filters for Audit Groups

Known Issues

The following are currently known issues with release 2.11.1:

Setup Importer Updates

Account Service Begin date can be after Service End date
Any specified dates can be outside of 1899 and 3000
Item CODES allow special characters not typically allowed when creating items manually through the User Interface
Global meter counts are not updated during meter imports. If you reach your maximum meter limit in EnergyCAP as part of a meter import, the Account/Meter wizard will not reflect this and appear to allow you to set up more meters, even though the final saving will fail
Meters, Rates, and G/L codes cannot be updated
Rate Start Date default to 1/1/1800 instead of 1/1/1980 which prevents the start date from being displayed in the UI
ZIP code and country do not have to match on any Update sheets. There is no validation at this time.
Account is active listed in 1/0s instead of Yes/No in the filter list when exporting an update spreadsheet for accounts

New Features

Importing Setup Data

A new feature in EnergyCAP allows you to use formatted setup files to import all major objects into your account. Using logically divided Excel files for Places, Accounts and Meters, Vendors, and Cost Centers, you can set up all of the pieces of your organization more quickly. In a few short weeks, the next release of EnergyCAP will allow using this same tool to do updates in mass for many objects as well.

This new feature can be found under the Administration section of EnergyCAP and some initial help is already available on the Dashboard -> Help section of Administration. Brief how-to videos will be available shortly.

Creating New Rates

Until now, the only way to create a new rate was through the Account/Meter Wizard. Now, you can setup rates in the Vendor & Rates section of EnergyCAP to be used by your meters, either through the new setup importer or when creating new accounts and meters in the application.

Improvements

ENERGY STAR

EnergyCAP has undergone some significant improvements in setting up ENERGY STAR data and helping maintain it correctly in Portfolio Manager (PM). While some of the new improvements have actually been made behind the scenes in the services that talk with ENERGY STAR for you, key improvements have been made in the user interface.

Space-type properties can now have "effective dates" set on them. This provides a means for updating values in PM while retaining a history of the settings over time. Until now, EnergyCAP always sent one set of data with an effective date of 1/1/2004 which overwrote any previous information. This is will no longer happen as long as property dates are updated if values change.
New schema minimums allow you to submit buildings with floor area and property values that weren't previously allowed. If values you provide fall outside of the specified minimums to receive a rating (like 5000 square feet minimum for most spaces), then an ENERGY STAR rating will not be received. However, the building data will now be submitted when it wasn't previously.
Making these changes allows users to submit multiple of the same space type, something not previously allowed. This is most useful for users that have "vacant" spaces that they want to account for differently from the rest of their building, typically a need for the multi-tenant industry.

Major Permissions Improvements

In an effort to align the user role descriptions with the permissions used in the application, every module and action in EnergyCAP Express has been re-evaluated in light of both the description provided for the roles and the permissions used by EnergyCAP Enterprise for similar functionality. The defined permissions for user roles will be updated the first time you log into the updated release.

Bug Fixes

[ECO-497] - All datagrids that have an icon in the header now center the icon properly
[ECO-822] - The error message for COST15 shows the correct value
[ECO-867] - Corrected the Import Errors list to allow users to modify bills with the correct permissions
[ECO-899] - The Edit Audit Group Properties dialog didn't focus the text field correctly
[ECO-996] - Date fields now only accept values after 1900 to prevent data entry errors
[ECO-1003] - Bill Entry Only user role had incorrect permissions preventing them from entering bills
[ECO-1088] - Hoving over an ENERGY STAR message did not display the entire message correctly
[ECO-1116] - Running an individual audit group now warns the user if they are attempting to run it without filters on all bills
[ECO-1119] - Audit Group grid did not refresh after Run Selected Wizard is completed, leaving the checkboxes selected

EnergyCAP 2.10.0 Released With All New Audits

New Features

All New Web-based Audits

The legacy EnergyCAP audit engine has been completely redesigned to provide more flexibility and speed in auditing utility bills for possible errors. This initial release of the audit system has 54 separate audits available for use. In the process of enhancing the way audits function, a number of other improvements to the system were made, including:

All audit groups now allow filters to be set which determines the bills that will be audited
More relevant data and ordering of audit results to assist users in dealing with the biggest problems first
After fixing the bill problem, re-auditing the bill will set its status to fixed, rather than having to fix problems manually as before

Upgrade Manager

As more features are added and improved in EnergyCAP, some settings will have to be made to each client's data to effectively use new features. To help facilitate this, a new login manager has been added that will prompt the user to perform the updates before continuing.

Login Manager

During the login process, a number of messages and errors could be presented to the user under various circumstances. Under certain conditions, three or more dialog boxes were presented in succession causing clutter and confusion. A new wizard has replaced these separate dialogs and put them into one popup that will work the user through any login actions that are required before the application can be used. This should lead to a better user experience when issues occur at login time.

Bugs

[ECO-954] - Bills with Problems Flags checkboxes were not always honored if "select all" was used first
[ECO-955] - Problem flags set on the bill by a user are being marked as fixed during creation or editing of a bill
[ECO-1043] - Editing a Place Group throws an exception
[ECO-1082] - Custom Filters Grid "Delete Selected Bills" was not working correctly

Improvements

[ECO-926] - Bills With Problem Flags has been modified to display more relevant data to help identify the biggest issues
[ECO-974] - Clickable text in data grids has been improved so that only the text is clickable and not the entire cell. This sometimes caused unintended navigation when clicking on rows.

EnergyCAP 2.9.3 Released

User and Application Validation: In preparation for the upcoming 2.10.0 release, the final pieces of user and license validation have been added. This allows EnergyCAP Online to provide the same validation messages and limitations as EnergyCAP Enterprise.

[ECO-376] - When a Cost Center/Account name is changed, the tree was not reordered
[ECO-529] - When editing voided bills, a label now displays on the bill entry template to show this
[ECO-605] - Both lines of an account address can now be displayed in the bill entry window

[ECO-880] - Saving report filters fails if more than one quote is in the value of the filter
[ECO-912] - Cost from information only bodylines was added into total cost of the bill
[ECO-903] - Users were not being prohibited from trying to delete the topmost node of the Buildings & Meters or Account tree

EnergyCAP 2.9.1 Released

EnergyCAP, Inc. has released an updated version of the EnergyCAP web client to address bugs recently reported by the Customer Support team. No substantial functionality has been modified as part of this release.

EnergyCAP 2.9.0 Released with New and Improved Bill Import

EnergyCAP 2.9.0 includes a major overhaul of Bill Processing in the application. In particular, Bill Import has been extensively enhanced to import many bills into the system quickly. For more information, read below and visit Help in EnergyCAP via Home.

This release is currently available to hosted clients. Clients who host their own databases will be notified when it is available for them.

New Features

Calendarization and Normalization

This release of EnergyCAP Enterprise includes the exciting new features found in release 2.8.0 - previously only offered to our EnergyCAP Express clients. Please see the announcement here.

New and Improved Bill Import

Importing bills has been significantly enhanced to allow greater flexibility for users to get data into EnergyCAP. Previously, importing was only allowed via templates that we provided and only on a per-account basis. Now the Importer allows a significant amount of customization in importing your bills. There is no limit on the number of accounts and meters that can be imported. Also, the cause of bill import failure is displayed so you can correct it without having to re-import the entire file.

The previous bill import feature has been removed in favor of the new, permanent bill import process. Help documentation for the new Importer is available in the Help pages along with a detailed sample file. The sample file can be downloaded through Help documentation or on the first page of the Bill Import Wizard. A Help video will be available soon to provide further details and examples.

Bill Import Errors

A new list in Bill Processing shows all bills that failed to import. It also displays the reason they failed so you can correct and then re-import. Before this enhancement, the procedure was to delete the imported batch, correct the file based on the feedback of the Importer, and try to import the file again. Now the lines of the bill are kept together so they can be corrected and the entire bill can be imported again.

The second advantage to the list of import errors is to identify data that’s not currently in your database. For instance, if an account number changed, but wasn’t updated in your database, you can correct it and then re-import, rather than starting over with the entire import file.

Improved Bill Lists

All bill lists in Bill Processing have been modified to provide consistent features, information, and exporting.

Filters: Where applicable, any bill list that provides some kind of filters is now available in the “Filters” tab at the top of the screen. This allows filters to be accessible, but creates space in the interface previously taken by the filters.

Details & Actions: This tab of the various bill lists displays the same basic data in all areas in the same places. Data typically includes: Total Cost of all Bills queried, Total number of bills returned and displayed, an Export to Excel button, and an “action” dropdown that displays the list of available options for any bills that are selected in the list.

Export to Excel: All Bill Processing lists now allow you to Export data to Excel. Previously the visible rows (up to 1000) could be copied to the clipboard for pasting. This improved export ability provides an Excel file with all bills in the query (not just 1000) in the order you have defined.

New “Kiosk” Permissions Available

EnergyCAP Online now takes advantage of new permissions that hide the display of meter and account level data from users who do not have access. This provides a mechanism to set up a public “kiosk” user for general use. Users logged in with this account only see rollup information in both the Building & Meters and Accounts trees.

Currently, these permissions are set through the installed version of EnergyCAP Enterprise. In the future, a new user role will be added to EnergyCAP Express, which will enable this type of login permission.

Bug Fixes

Any fixes or features previously announced between your current version and release 2.9.0 are incorporated. This includes, but is not limited to:

[ECO-620] – After moving all meters from a building to new building, the original building could not be deleted.
[ECO-623] – On the Buildings & Meters Calendarized Tab, the Use vs Weather chart options has scroll bars.
[ECO-629] – Calendarized & Normalized Chart Options displayed more than 10 years.
[ECO-632] – EUI Chart ignores use from buildings without floor area. The trend line needs another digit after decimal to avoid flat line.
[ECO-626] – Turn off Calendarization and Normalization reports tree nodes if the client hasn’t licensed Cost Avoidance.

EnergyCAP 2.8.0 Released with Exciting New Features

Calendarization and Normalization

A major new feature of EnergyCAP 2.8.0 is the added ability to see your utility bills in two new ways. Until now, there was one set of PowerViews showing the actual utility bill data at each level of your organization. Now, EnergyCAP can also calendarize this data automatically using smart weather regression to give a more realistic view of your usage and cost for weather sensative meters.

Additionally, these same bills can be normalized so to compare the year-over-year data on an apples-to-apples basis. In normalizing data, EnergyCAP substitutes a common year of weather data for all years of bills to allow you to answer the question, "What would my usage have been like if the weather was exactly the same in all years?" This enables you to quickly and easily see if your energy management efforts are making a difference when weather sensitivity is removed from the equation.

Energy Project Tracking

We've also added the ability to track your energy projects at a building level. The projects are marked on our Energy Trend Chart (found under the "Normalized Data" tab) so that you can see if the projects have made a difference in energy intensity over time. Energy Projects can be found under the new tab "Building Properties". For more information on projects, please see the "Calendarized & Normalized" Help pages on the home screen.

EnergyCAP 2.8.0 includes all bug fixes found in 2.7.6 and the following minor issues.
