One of the chief complaints of utility analysts and energy managers is the time required to produce and distribute meaningful reports to their stakeholders. But EnergyCAP simplifies all this with a full-featured scheduler for emailing report batches to user-defined distribution lists. Not only can report lists be created and configured by each user, but each report will be tailored to the recipient’s security permissions. 

Reports can be scheduled daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly, and email distribution lists can be updated via import of a simple text format (csv) file. Reports can be emailed in any of the following formats:

Calendarization

Calendarization in EnergyCAP helps you compare monthly utility bills from year-to-year on an “apples-to-apples” basis by eliminating variables related to billing periods for the utility bills. For example, a utility bill in one year might include dates from two or even three calendar months, while next year’s bill might be a significantly different set of dates in the billing period.

In addition, the billing period lengths might be different. In one year, the meter reading dates might have produced a billing period of 27 days. Next year, the utility bill in the same calendar month might have a billing period of 33 days. Calendarization “smoothes out” utility bill use and cost data by splitting costs into daily buckets and then allocating the use and cost to the appropriate calendar month.

Sometimes our clients' reporting needs exceed our 250 stock reports. No problem! Custom spreadsheets enable users to quickly and easily export utility bill data from EnergyCAP to Excel® or other spreadsheet programs for ad hoc reporting. Using the custom spreadsheet wizard, you can design your own spreadsheet based-report format.

You can select almost any field in the EnergyCAP database using a comprehensive list of filter options. The resulting spreadsheet data is dynamically linked to the most relevant modules of the EnergyCAP software, so it’s easy to jump back and forth between the spreadsheet and the corresponding data in EnergyCAP.

EnergyCAP’s data export options have been valuable in preparing custom utility reports for a number of campus entities.

PowerViews

PowerViews are exclusive EnergyCAP display features that place the most important energy data at your fingertips in the form of accessible charts and graphs. PowerViews are provided with their accompanying data tables, and are automatically displayed and dynamically updated. Chart and table data can be copied to the the PC clipboard with a mouse click, and then pasted into other applications for external reporting.

The PowerViews located throughout EnergyCAP provide a snapshot of cost, unit cost, and consumption for any meter, building, departmental or accounting division of your organization. This type of presentation enables you to quickly spot energy issues, trends, and savings possibilities.

 

We use PowerViews (charts and graphs of utility billing data) to quickly identify and respond to anomalies in energy use and cost. PowerViews make it easy to spot increasing energy use, rate trends, and data entry errors.

Project Tracking

Project tracking features in EnergyCAP help you report the energy and cost savings from your energy management projects. You can define the types of projects, their start and completion dates, cost of the installation, any rebate information, and the anticipated or actual energy and cost savings from the project. The tracking feature automatically charts completed projects on EnergyCAP’s Energy Use Intensity (EUI) graph so it is easy to see how they are impacting organization energy consumption.

EnergyCAP uses an intuitive and user-friendly hierarchical structure for presenting utility data for meters, buildings, broader organization divisions, accounts, and cost centers. These hierarchies are flexible and user-configurable, and provide a cohesive structure for categorizing and viewing energy data and sharing reports based on the hierarchies.

TreeViews enable you to set up the EnergyCAP database to mirror your unique organizational structure. You can also administrate individual user permissions based on the TreeView organization. This simplifies and secures the database by limiting user access to data based on needs and job roles.

EnergyCAP enables you to analyze weather data, spot trends, and calculate the impact on your facility energy use. You can enter daily weather data manually, or download data automatically. Through a partnership with AccuWeather.com, EnergyCAP provides daily access to more than 14,000 virtual and actual weather stations throughout the United States.

Weather data is integrated into EnergyCAP cost avoidance calculations to determine the weather sensitivity for each meter. Degree days are automatically charted for year-to-year comparisons.

Report Designer

Report Designer is an Excel® Add-in that works by importing data right from your EnergyCAP database into a user-customizable Excel pivot table report. Drawing on the power of our evolving API, Report Designer allows you to tap into your in-house Excel experience and expertise to build custom reports.

Utility billing information, and account, meter, place, rollup data, can be filtered by a variety of criteria, including address, floor area, build date, place type, building primary use, and place group. For data security and relevance, the user’s topmost place permissions will be honored during report generation.

Excel's powerful data model, coupled with a library of report templates available from EnergyCAP, provides user-configurable reports using the most current information from your EnergyCAP database. You can use existing Excel functionality to develop charts and graphs from the available data.
