Energy Management HELP WANTED

Title: Assistant Director of Facilities Finance and Business Operations/Energy Management

UNLV is a comprehensive research university of approximately 28,000 students and 2,900 faculty and staff dedicated to teaching, research, and service. 

This position will assist in the management of Facilities Management, Finance and Business Operations as well as be responsible for the full spectrum of energy conservation strategies and programs at UNLV. 

The Assistant Director will provide input and recommendations to the Director regarding departmental initiatives, strategic planning and direction, policies, procedures, issues in need of attention, departmental standards and business/operations items and will support enacting items determined to move forward in these areas. 

The objective is to continuously achieve lower energy consumption. 

The Assistant Director will be appointed acting authority in the absence of the Director of Finance and Business Operations. 

This position requires:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field from a regionally accredited college or university and 6 years or related professional experience. 
  • Extensive experience establishing service rates and operating procedures in a service organization offering diverse services and with a large volume of business.

  • Working knowledge of accepted accounting principles, budget development and tracking.
  • Experience with chargeback operations in a large institutional environment.
  • Working knowledge of utility management software such as EnergyCAP.
  • Knowledge of applied sustainability efforts and methodology within higher education.
  • Experience in supervising/managing administrative and business staff, developing and working in a successful team environment and collaborating with both internal and external entities and agencies.
  • Strong oral/written communication and strong management, collaboration and interaction skills.


Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
