We’d like to introduce them, and share their expertise and responsibilities in today’s blog.

Dan Behringer

Dan Behringer began his EnergyCAP employment on April 20th. As a Senior Project Manager, his job responsibilities are focused around managing EnergyCAP software implementation projects through the installation, setup, data migration, and customization phases. Related responsibilities include strategic planning, problem resolution, product customization, customer relations, project management, documentation, training, and business analysis. “I really like the culture of working for a small and growing software company,” Dan told us.

Away from work, Dan stays very busy with his wife and four young children. “I enjoy coaching and cheering my children on at their activities,” he said. When he gets some free time, Dan enjoys a variety of leisure activities including golfing, playing board games, reading science fiction novels, playing fantasy football, and serving at his local church.

Roy Long

Roy Long also began his EnergyCAP employment April 20, and is sharing an office with Dan. As an EnergyCAP Project Manager, he facilitates EnergyCAP software implementation for client and online installations for diverse client organizations including universities, commercial organizations, and government agencies.  Roy is responsible for ensuring that client requirements for incorporating historical energy data, accounts payable interfaces, cost avoidance, and user access are met.

Roy is married with two children, enjoys baseball, music, and spending time with family. A trained pilot, Roy enjoys recreational flying, and serves with the Civil Air Patrol.

Benjamin Soltoff

Benjamin Soltoff is a doctoral student at Penn State University and will graduate in August with a Ph.D. in Political Science. He started his summer job at EnergyCAP June 8, and he is applying his advanced training in statistical methods to help better understand energy usage and evaluate billing record accuracy. “This work is exciting as I get to apply my methodological training to a new set of problems and learn more about energy management,” Ben told us.

This fall he will be moving to Ohio to accept a position as a visiting assistant professor at Miami University (OH). Ben’s doctoral research focuses on the courts and how elections influence judges’ decisions. Ben applies advanced statistical methods to measure and analyze this behavior through public records and written judicial opinions.

Ben and his wife, Amanda, have lived in State College for the past five years. When not working or studying, they enjoy local travel, attending many festivals and other events across central Pennsylvania. This summer, they are also looking forward to cheering on the State College Spikes—our local minor league baseball team.

Leah Laughlin

The second summer staffer is Leah Laughlin. Leah is a junior at Penn State majoring in Energy Business and Finance in the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Her EnergyCAP responsibilities include updating weather data in production databases, updating sample reports, and researching and compiling vendor/energy rates. She has also contributed to the EnergyCAP blog.

When Leah is not digging in a database, she digs running, hiking, reading, and stargazing.

We are excited about the contributions of each of our new staff members, and we hope you will have a chance to get to know some of them and/or benefit from their work in weeks and months to come.
