had won a Product of the Year award for our EnergyCAP energy management software. This wasn’t the first national award we claimed this year, but the third. So in some ways, it was icing on the cake—a great way to cap a calendar year of progress and innovation.
This most recent award has delighted me for three reasons:
This trend illustrates growing recognition of the value of energy management software for a larger and larger segment of the marketplace. Thanks to the power of the PC, more and more businesses and governmental organizations of all sizes are managing their energy with dedicated software, and achieving quantifiable savings in the process, with greater transparency of energy data and easier utility bill processing. This is great news for everyone.
EMT’s audience is our “sweet spot” for product promotion. Energy Manager Today is an online daily news service that speaks to our core software users and/or beneficiaries—the energy management professionals who are actively engaged in planning, analyzing, monitoring and/or implementing energy-saving ideas and projects on a daily basis. If we can “make it there” (with the EMT esteemed judging panel), we can “make it anywhere,” to paraphrase the popular song.
It’s great to see a nice guy finish first. Forty years ago, a young Air Force cadet was trying to save the U.S. Armed Forces a little money by improving the monitoring of heat flow in his dormitory—an idea that was later implemented. Today, EnergyCAP CEO Steve Heinz is a recent recipient of the AEE’s International Energy Engineer of the Year award. He’s come a long way from the days of selling his PC-based energy management software from a phone booth. Who would have thought that an idea as simple as tracking your utility bills could lead down such a rewarding road? Congratulations, Steve—and congratulations EnergyCAP!
As I mentioned previously, we have received national recognition with three awards this year. We were excited to have received the Partner of the Year (Sustained Excellence) award from the EPA’s prestigious ENERGY STAR program last April (EnergyCAP is the only software company to be honored with five awards in five years). And we were pleased to have received the Environmental Leader Product Award earlier this year.
It’s been a great year for EnergyCAP, so the EMT letter was icing on the cake. And I love cake.
